Skins shore up WR corps

Skins signed Pierre Garcon and Josh Morgan yesterday and are apparently in talks with Eddie Royal. I like the pickups as both Garcon and Morgan are young guys that are still improving.

WR was definitely a need and now we have a good group. There are no superstars but with Garcon, Morgan, Moss, Gaffney, Hankerson, plus one of the remaining (Paul, Armstrong, Austin, etc.), I feel pretty good about this group.

We now need to focus on secondary and O line.

I'm glad we didn't blow our wad on Jackson. He is a talent but he has never caught more than 68 catches in a season and he is 29 years old and he is VERY expensive.

While I would have liked Cortland Finnegan, same thing as Jackson. Too expensive. We need some help but I don't want to overspend.

We also need to resign Fletch. I imagine this will happen but I would like for this to have already been taken care of.

Interesting first day of FA. We'll see what Day 2 brings.

It is a pretty good group on paper. I'm not familiar with Morgan, but he may grow into a good player.

At least RG3 will have some targets. The next question will be how well they protect.

Morgan is a solid WR. The 9ers liked him. I like that he is a local kid (went to h.s. in DC and went to VA Tech) and he is younger and still seems like he has something to prove. I am much more comfortable with our WR corps than I was on Monday.

The bigger question is secondary. We need help there. I think that is the most pressing need right now.

Our O line is not great but it is not bad. They actually came on strong towards the end of last season and this was a group of backups that was playing. I think we are okay at tackle with Williams and Brown. Montgomery was solid at center. Chester is fine at RG. Mo Hurt was decent when stepping in for Lichtensteiger who was decent himself prior to his injury.

Now this isn't a stellar group but it is okay. I would be happy to get additional help but I can live with this group. Not sure I can say the same about our secondary.

I imagine we will focus on these two areas with our remaining picks in the draft.

If Hankerson is healthy, this group will be strong. Garcon is extremely fast and has good size. He fills the role of a true deep threat. Hankerson looked (albeit briefly before getting injured) like he could develop into a true #1. He needs to heal, but at least he has the smarts and work ethic to try to get back into playing shape. Moss can finally then play the slot receiver role. Morgan is another fast guy with good size who can be an effective 4th option.

If we get Royal, Brandon Banks will probably be done as a Redskin. I like the kid, but he's proven to be too small to do anything more than return kicks, which Royal also does very well.

Now, if we can just address the secondary and the O-line, we'll be in good shape. I like what's been done so far though. We've improved significantly since Snyderatto "debacled" the team's talent and depth.
