End of an era

It appears that the Colts and Peyton Manning will be officially parting ways today. A press conference is expected with Irsay and Manning to make the announcement. Interesting as this comes on the heels of Manning holding workouts where reports are that he is regaining strength and throwing better. It opens the door for teams like Miami, Washington, NY Jets, and others to go after the QB. It also pretty much guarantees Luck will be the number one overall pick.

I don't blame the Colts. With all the change they are going through (new management and coaches), it seems to make sense to start with a new QB and face of the team. They also couldn't give up $28M roster bonus due to Manning. It's a tough side of sports as we would have all probably liked to have seen Manning end his illustrious career as a Colt but it's a business and decisions need to be made with your head and not your heart.

As a Skins fan, I hope we don't go after him. I wouldn't mind signing him on the cheap but not sure that is going to happen. I also don't think Manning will be as great as we remember him and I wouldn't want to see his lack of abilities week in week out.

At least it appears to be a mutual parting and I wish both sides the best of luck.
