Skins beat the G-men

Good win yesterday. We pretty much dominated from the get go. I felt like it was the most complete game we had all year. Offense, defense, special teams, and coaching all seemed to be in sync. I loved that we played a divisional opponent who needed the win at their place and beat them. I also loved that we shoved it down Antrell Rolle's throat after he said when we beat them the first time that they were better than us and they beat us "95 out of 100 times." He didn't back down from those statements this week so it was good to shove it in his face. Here are a few thoughts:

1. Rexy was solid. Yes, he had the two early INTs on deep passes but at least they were deep passes and almost like punts. He recovered and had himself a solid game. I hope to retain him and have him be the starter going into next year.

2. Another good running game. Helu and Royster played well and I liked that we committed to the run. Give credit to the makeshift O line for their effort.

3. Good O line play. Again, starting Willie Smith at LT, Polumbus at RT, and Mo Hurt at LG against a very good Giant D line and we only allowed one sack and, as mentioned, they gave the backs opportunities to run.

4. Defense was solid. Three INTs and good pressure on the QB. Robs thought the D would give up some lopsided losses but it hasn't happened. We largely held the Giants in check and I like the group we have. Hopefully we bring Fletcher back as he is the anchor of that D.

5. Solid coaching. We mixed in some trick plays early which were effective. I guess we have nothing to lose so why not. I liked that we threw deep even though we didn't connect but I loved how we did a good mix of run and pass. Very pleased with the coaching effort given and the their gameplan.

6. Guano solid. Still don't really care for him but he made his kicks and looked pretty good.

In the end, I'm happy with the effort as the team has shown no signs of quitting. We have played good ball for the last several weeks and I just think this team could have easily been in the thick of things if we didn't disrupt with the whole Beck experiment. Still, we are growing and we do seem like we are building and improving. We are young, have several draft picks, cap room to spend on FAs, and will also be returning two high picks from this previous year in Hankerson and Jenkins. There is reason to be positive about this team going into next year.

It will be interesting to see how we finish up the year. We have the Viqueens at home and then on the road against Philly. If we finish out strong, we should feel good with where we are at. Aikman said in talking with Shanny that Shanny is comfortable with where we are and building for next year. It's exactly how I feel and I think the expectations will have to be much bigger next season.

HAIL SKINS!!!
