Skins tender JC

So the Skins gave a first round tender to JC and other FAs that include Carlos Rogers and Rocky McIntosh.

JC took it in stride but apparently Rogers and McIntosh are not happy with it. I imagine it kind of sucks for them that their contracts just so happened to end this year. Still, it is what it is and you have to play by the rules.

In other news, the Skins are expected to be players in FA and are expected to make some cuts of notable Redskins that could possibly include:

Corny Griffin
Andre Carter
Smooooooooooot
Randle El
Randy Thomas
Rock Cartright

The only guy out of the group above that I would care to keep is Rock. He is a solid vet and good locker room guy. The others are either old, injury plagued, don't fit the system, or all of the above.

With FA set to begin tomorrow, will be interesting what takes place in the coming days. Stay tuned.

The guys who got tendered are not happy (except maybe JC). They really cleaned house.

Probably a good thing for the longer term - but Danny Boy probably won't like the 6-10 season that is coming.

They will probably have to have two years of significant turnover to really remake the team.

The tendering is not specific to the Skins and it's just an unfortunate situation for players league wide who find themselves in this situation but it is what it is so players have to deal with it. JC is handling it well and again showing his professionalism.

They were all good cuts. The only guy that I might have considered keeping is Rock because he is a good locker room presence but frankly I prefer Thomas or someone else returning kicks.

What is good is that it shows that Allen and Shanny are in control and building the team that they want and not the team that Danny Boy wants.

This is all positive.

I'm fine going 6-10 if I feel like we are building something.

I have no issue - that is what the Deadskins really need anyway. For far too long they have had not had a team, but a bunch of guys strung together.

There are a lot of players across the NFL who are not happy about the tender process, but the Deadskins are releasing so many players that the guys who are tendered (Rogers and McIntosh, specifically) would prefer to just get cut along with all of the other guys.

The thing is that the Deadskins are probably looking at 2 years of significant turnover as they remake their team, so the guys who are tendered won't feel any obligation/loyatly to the rebuilding effort.

So far I have been very happy with all the moves since Zorny was fired.

You're right in that we were a collection of players and not a team. Hopefully Allen/Shanny have a plan. They seem like they do but I am curious to watch how it unfolds.

As far as the tendering, again, that is across the league and feeling no loyalty...that's the nature of the NFL. Players leave if shown the money so loyalty is a two way street. If those that are tendered perform, they will be rewarded. If not, they will be free to leave.
