U-S-A!!!

Okay, so it's not the miracle on ice but still a pretty good upset last night with the U.S. hockey team beating the Goliath Canadian team.

The U.S. were never down in the game and handled them pretty well. Ryan Miller was stellar in goal. It was 4-2 late in the game when Crosby scored on a PP to cut the deficit to one. Great flurry by the Canadian team at the end of the game. Pretty intense until the U.S. was able to add in an empty netter.

In a side note, Russia defeated the Czech Republic. One of the greatest moments in all of hockey was when Ovie laid out Jaromir Jagr whose head was down and didn't even see the hit coming. Jagr was sent head over heels. It also led to a Russian goal. Jagr's face on the bench after that hit/goal was priceless. Thorough embarrassment. It was like, "Hey! You can't do that to me!!! I'm Jaromir Jagr!!!" The thing is Ovie doesn't care who you are. You better keep your head up when he is around. It was also like the old superstar getting schooled by the young superstar. LOVE IT!!!

The US-Canada game was great TV. Canada should have put Mike Green on the team and now they are struggling to get offensive production. Miller was incredible last night.

The Red Army is back. It is interesting to see how the Russian hockey players are approaching the Olympics. They aren't answering any questions in English and have taken a very, very serious tone. There was a good piece this weekend in the Post, NBC, or Yahoo Sports about Ovechkin not being his usual joking self. A US - Russia match up would be pretty cool.

The Red Army is back? They are being very, VERY serious? Oh, in that case, I say it's MILLER TIME and we shove that hammer and sickle right up their Red butts!!!

Actually, I did love the hit Ovie put on Jagr and part of me would like Ovie to get an Olympic Gold but given the surprising results of the U.S. team, I say U-S-A!! U-S-A!!!

SEND THOSE COMMIES BACK HOME!!!!

Or at least home until the end of the Olympics and then I desperately want my Ovie, Semin, and Varly back with the Caps once the NHL resumes.

It is interesting - but I think it is good for the sport to have guys take it so seriously.

It shouldn't be considered an exhibition and it certainly does not seem that way.
