JMU wins

It's been a disappointing season but the Dukes made it two in a row and improved to 4-5. The loss of Dudzik changed the complexion of the entire season but it looks like redshirt freshman Justin Thorpe is getting some good experience and finally showing what he will be capable of in a couple of years.

Thorpe (had 216 total yards of offense in the JMU victory. He completed nine of 13 pass attempts for 133 yards and a score while also rushing 17 times for a net of 83 yards and a score. I'm confident the guy will develop and given the state of the season, it's good that he gets a chance to learn.

Hopefully we can finish out the season strong.

Unfortunately, it's demoralizing and difficult to keep your head in the game when you injure your Dudzik.

Nice to see the team fight to win despite Dudzik's injury. Based on your stats on Thorpe, it looks like he plays a different type of game and his strengths may not fit the offense the way Dudzik did.

Thorpe seems to have the more potential and is more of an athlete. We are a running type team that will mix in the pass and Thorpe was highly regarded coming out of high school so I think he will eventually fit the bill. Thorpe is more similar to our QB last year, Rodney Landers (a Payton Award finalist -- equivalent of the Heisman).

Dudzik is solid and has been in the system longer and is more mature but he has a cap on his abilities.

It certainly is demoralizing and hard to win when you hurt your dudzik. However, I think in the long run, it's probably good that Thorpe is getting game experience now so that he can make himself and our team better down the road.
