There is talk of Joe Gibbs returning as a consultant and help identify and name a GM and coach for the Redskins moving forward.
Sounds like it is all a big rumor but it wouldn't be a bad move on Danny boy's part. I don't think much of Gibbs in terms of personnel and coach selection but Gibbs is revered in this town and Danny boy is trying to save face. Bringing in Gibbs to help out with that would make the fans feel good in that we get rid of Cerrato and we have one of D.C.'s favorite figures help out in moving the team forward.
Again, I don't think it will happen and I don't think much of Gibbs in being able to find the right guys but at the very least it would be change in the right direction because at least we would be getting rid of Cerrato and that in an of itself is a great start. It would all just be another day as usual in Redskin World.

Not going to happen. Gibbs is too smart to be trapped by Danny Boy again.
Frankly, it would be bad for the Deadskins. They need a complete break from the past - they need to bring in some younger, up-and-coming GM who will hire a younger coach to completely change the attitude of the organization.
Hiring Gibbs would be the ultimate in looking back.
Gibbs said when he left that he would be available to Snyder on occasion so it is not completely unbelievable.
I too think it is a rumor and again, I don't think much of Gibbs in terms of player/coach/personnel selection so I'd like to see maybe Polian's son or another guy like him given an opportunity to build the team.
I know what Gibbs said when he left, but that is standard stuff when someone leaves.
He isn't coming back - no way, no how.
But the larger point I will make again is if the organization wants to change it has to break from everything it has been doing in the past under Danny Boy.
Rolling out Gibbs so that fans can get excited again is very Dannyish. He probably even started the rumor to try to win back some of the dwindling fan base.
The rumor got started because Danny boy had dinner with Gibbs the week we were playing Carolina. However, the dinner was with other former Redskins (Jurgensen, Huff, and others) and I believe some bank executives.
It was just speculation about what they were talking about.
Again, I agree not to bring Gibbs back. I'm sure he and Danny boy stay in touch occasionally but Gibbs is not the guy to build a team.
I'm sure Gibbs regrets coming out of retirement and tarnishing his great career. I'm sure that he resented not spending his time with his grandson who is ill. He will not get involved with the Danny.
