The road to the Cup all starts tonight with the Caps taking on the Bruins. It's the #2 vs. the #1 seed of the East from last year. Should be a good test early on.
I like the additions of Knuble and Morrison both of whom should provide some veteran leadership and presence in front of the net which we were sorely lacking last year.
We have one of the youngest and most talented teams in the NHL and anything less than the Cup this year should be considered a failure.
The issues with the team are goaltending where Jose Theodore is the #1 but his inconsistent play from last year was not what we had hoped for. Varlamov became a sensation in the postseason but he is still young and learning. The good news is that they are capable and we still have Michael Neuvirth at Hershey who is solid so hopefully the goaltending situation will be decent.
Also, defensively guys will have to step up.
Whatever. Just excited that the Caps are back.
LET'S GO CAPS!!!

I read about the game in the Post this morning - sounds like they played very well.
Barring injury - and that always is a big factor - the Caps should easily finish as one of the top 3 seeds. I'd say they should be first after the regular season, but we all know it is what you do in the playoffs that counts.
Looking forward to a good season.
Watched most of the game and the Caps looked fantastic. They got good goal keeping play and the defense was solid.
Offense is not the problem. They looked sharp offensively particularly on the PP. We lacked presence in front of the net last year but Laich got two goals right around the net which is what we need.
I really feel this is the year this team is ready to make its push for the Cup. I said the same thing all last year. Two years ago once Boudreau became coach we made a strong finish and got a taste of the playoffs. Last year, we were a strong, young team and won one playoff series.
This year, we know we are good. We know what it feels like to be good and get into the playoffs. The team is still young but they are experienced. As I stated, this year the expectation has to be winning the Cup and anything less is a failure.
LET'S GO CAPS!!!!
Ah, isn't it nice when the brothers agree on something!
Don't get too hyped yet JKS dad: The Caps have owned the Bruins for the past two years. I want to see what they do against the Pens and Phili.
The regular season means very little. The CAPS are clearly a highly ranked playoff team, but playoff hockey is different than regular season hockey. I hope the maturity of their young stars and the few additions they've made will make the difference.
As they used to say back in the old Capital Centre: "Let's go CAPS!!"
