Jason Campbell - Week 7

Ranking: 25 (down 5)

QB Rating: 78.5 (minus 2.6)

Completion percentage: 59.5 (plus 0.8)

Yards: 1181 (plus 95)

TDs: 5 (no change)

INTs: 5 (plus 1)

Yards per attempt: 7.03 (minus 0.21)

Sacks: 9 (plus 1)

Not a great game but JC played within the game plan. The plan was to be conservative and run the ball and do short, quick passes. JC accomplished this. It would have been nice for the coaches to allow their young QB open it up and spread the ball a little. Just a couple of deep balls would have helped to spread the defense. At least we got the win and there wasn't anything JC did that would warrant great praise or great criticism. On to NE.

Pretty pedestrian numbers.

Do we want to continue our discussion here?

Seems to me you are just bitter and want an opportunity to strike back even when it is not warranted.

If that is the case, so be it. We can continue your silly game.

His numbers are pedestrian. He is ranked between Damon Huard and Kyle Boller. He is below Joey Harrington. Harrington has thrown for more yards, a higher completion percentage and has no fumbles. Harrington has 4 TDs and 4 interceptions. That is just a plain fact.

I'm not bitter - that is what I expected. I really have no idea what you mean by you claiming I want to "strike back."

Seems to me like you are reading something into the situation that just isn't there.

You defended Rexy to no end last year and this year. You would never call his numbers pedestrian. You always tried to put a positive spin on him but you won't for JC. You won't look at the reasons why his numbers are the what they are. You refuse to do that. Still, you call yourself objective.

Again, I will recognize poor play when I see it. However, I am not going to fault a guy when he is performing to the coaches strategy and he is making the throws he needs to but receivers aren't hanging on.

You are mistaken. I called his bad games bad when he had them. You simply have a flawed memory.

You want to know why I support Rex? He showed great promise for a young QB - and had better numbers than some of the NFL's best QBs in their first year as a starter. He is the best Bears starting QB in 20 years - bar none. He was second in the NFL in 100+ QB rating with 7 such games (he also had one game at 99). He played well and won huge games against the Giants, St. Louis, and Tampa in the second half of the season last year when the D was not performing well that helped the Bears win home field. Without home field, I doubt they would have made it to the Super Bowl.

He played solid games and made big plays when the Bears needed them against Seattle (in OT in a game where the D was off again), and New Orleans to get the Bears to the Super Bowl. Only the second Super Bowl in Bears history. I won't apologize for supporting a QB who did all that for my Bears.

When I see JC do even just a few of the things that Rex did, then I may be impressed. I don't see much to get really excited about - yet. That doesn't mean it won't happen - it just means that it hasn't happened yet.

As the D wears down over the year and gets hit with an injury or two, we'll see how JC plays and whether he can perform down the stretch like Rex did. If he ends up winning games for the Redskins then I may change my mind.
