Paterno was fired yesterday along with the University President (Spanier) and deservedly so. To not act on what they knew and to try and protect their program and the university is just despicable. What's also bothersome is all those idiot kids out there trying to support Paterno. These guys are only thinking about the football program and school. If it was explained to them that what if this had happened to them or their younger brother, would be interesting to see if they would change their tune.
Unfortunate in that it tarnishes a long and legendary career but he brought it on himself and, again, it was deserved and just the right thing to do.

No question. Paterno should have resigned himself to show he understood the seriousness of his moral failings but he tried to hang on to the end of the season. Pathetic and in my eyes he did even more to tarnish himself.
