Not that a win would have mattered or anything and it's not like I expected to beat the Chargers. Still, it would have been nice to send Zorny out with a win. Also, we were going up largely against the Charger backups.
Actually, it looked like we were going to win the game but once again, we found a way to lose. It pretty much boiled down to bad mistakes on our part that cost us the game. Specifically, Dock jumping offsides on a 4th and inches on the Charger 2 yard line where we were coming off of a timeout. That's inexcusable. Also, our DBs must have the absolute worst hands in the NFL. I thought it was largely just Carlos Rogers but apparently he has infected our entire defensive backfield. Smoot dropped one that was right in his hands in the first quarter that would have saved a FG. Then on the Charger last minute scoring drive, Tryon dropped a floater that hit him right in the chest. I knew after that play that the Chargers would score. Fitting end to sucky season.
Here are a few general thoughts:
1. O line sucked.
2. JC was solid. Again deserves credit for having to play under such sucky working conditions.
3. Defense was okay but dropping of balls was inexcusable.
4. Randle El had one very nice return. It was weird because he caught it and actually ran forward instead of hopping around in place before falling down before even being touched. Where the hell was that all year?
5. Kicker seems sketchy. Think he may have a hurt foot or something but not sure he is the answer. Short kickoffs and had a short FG that had difficulty getting through.
6. Good to see Kelly get involved. He had the one 80+ yard catch that would have been nice if he scored but it's still good to get these guys involved. Think we just need to simplify the offense and get these guys the ball.
Not much else. It was a very disappointing year and I'm glad it's over and we can begin changes and get ready for next year.

Why did they cut Suisham again?
Doesn't matter. Suisham wasn't a difference maker and kickers are a dime a dozen.
Elite kickers are a commodity but there are only a few out there and Suisham is not one of them.
He was I believe the worst percentage NFL kicker last year and then missed at least 3 critical and makeable kicks this year. I wouldn't have minded keeping him but had no problem letting him go either.
The Cowboys will regret having Suisham in the playoffs. JKSD is right. He had the lowest accuracy in the league in '08. He was not reliable. The 'Skins repeatedly passed on 40+ yard field goals due to a lack of confidence in him.
Robs...why do you ask this? Are you trying to imply that he was cut unnecessarily? You may be right. It didn't help anything, but it was done under Cerrato's watch and we know how terrible he was at the personnel job. Regardless, it doesn't matter. As JKSD said, kickers are a dime a dozen and bringing in Gano didn't make anything better or worse for the team.
Zorny and the coaching staff did not want to cut Suisham. It was Vinny's decision. The guy was 18-21 this year when he was cut.
How do you know it wasn't Zorny's decision? Zorny said himself that it was his decision.
Suisham wasn't model kicker. Again, he was the worst kicker in the league last year and that resulted in the kicking competition b/t he and Dave Raynor in the offseason. Suisham won and played pretty well but in the final weeks with the Skins, his three misses cost the Skins games. Two were against the Cowboys (a 30 something yarder right before halftime and a 50 yarder). Either one of those could have lifted us to victory. The other was a 20 yard chip shot against the Saints that would have sealed the victory in a great game at home that was just deflating.
Again, I would have been fine either way but who really gives a shart whether we kept him or not? I suppose you for some crazy reason. Didn't realize that you were all of a sudden a Suisham fan. I suppose you will be cheering for the Cowboys throughout the playoffs now since you love Suisham.
Congrats, Bear fan!
