Preseason Game #2 - Redskins vs. Steelers

So again, I don't put a whole lot of stock into the preseason. For me, it's just entertaining to watch the game because it is the Redskins but I hold off on all of my real judgements and opinions until the regular season starts. Sure, I would love to blow them out but again, just as getting beaten, blowing them out isn't a true and great indicator that we will dominate once the season starts.

The ole' ball coach and his Gator boys blew teams out in the preseason but we didn't do much once the regular season started.

The things I will be looking for are better intensity and execution. In particular, the following:

1. Continued development and execution of Jason Campbell.

2. Will be good to see Portis.

3. Involvement of Kelly and Thomas.

4. Davis to hold on to the ball.

5. Orakpo - both on the pass rush and coverage in space.

6. Will be good to see Haynesworth.

Hopefully the 1s can get us some points and it will be interesting to see us take on one of the best defenses in the league. We'll see how it goes but the good thing is with each passing day, we get that much closer to the regular season.

HAIL TO THE REDSKINS!!!

The big thing is whether their O-line can hold up.

I'll be looking for the Redskins to suck and and Danny Boy giving his manny (i.e., Vinny) a good tongue lashing for f'ing up the team.

I'll make sure I turn away right before Danny Boy finishes his tirade and then ends up sticking "little Danny Boy" up Vinny's arse.

Yes, we will have to watch the O line.

Did you mean to say that you will set your DVR and VCR and DVD recorder, pull down your pants and stick your dork in that small hole you cut out of the back of your sofa as Danny Boy finishes his tireade and then ends up sticking "little Danny Boy" up Vinny's arse? Because that is what I imagine you would do.

You have a sick imagination. Why you think about me in that way only makes me wonder what kind of disgusting fellow you really are.

Good luck to your Redskins, sir!

Robs must still have dork in that small hole in the sofa because he's been quiet lately. Either that or he lost his load this weekend after Cutler helped put up 17 points against the G-men. I'm sure he'll use that to prove how great the Bears are primed to be, forgetting that it's just the pre-season.

I went to the game Saturday night. The parking situation sucks. Aside from that (and the rain), it was about as good an experience as I could have expected for a preseason game.

A few comments on the 'Skins:

1. Starting O-line pass protection looks solid. Campbell had great protection, although it looked like the Steelers were sitting back a lot. I don't recall seeing them blitz much. I'm comfortable with the starting O-line. Depth is a possible problem. We'll see.

2. Campbell looks unsure of himself. It seems like he was told to take shots downfield and that's what he did...almost like he was forcing it downfield. Kelly was open on the first pass, but it was underthrown. A few passes later, he missed Moss badly down the sideline, throwing it to the wrong shoulder. I'm losing faith in the guy, but I'd rather have him in there than the other QBs, so I'll live with it.

3. The starting D looks very good. The slot DB spot looks a little suspect, but the D-line, with Haynesworth and Orakpo, was in the backfield almost every play disrupting the Steelers pass plays. The pass coverage needs to tighten up.

4. Our short yardage/goal-line running game sucks. Betts doesn't seem to be quick or confident when trying to pound it in.

5. Marcus Mason needs to make the roster. He's the change of pace back that needs to come in for Portis.

6. Zorn will say anything to protect his QB (Campbell). They're attached at the hip. If Campbell fails, Zorn will be gone. I just wish Zorn would be a little more honest about Campbell's shaky performance thus far.

HAIL 'SKINS!
