'Noop Dogg in the HIZZOUSE!!!! Looking forward to watching 'Nooper tonight do his thing. I don't think he is the best singer out there (although I do think he is pretty good). However, I think there are a lot of people that like him. I also think that given what he has been through on the show (was a unanimous choice by the judges to come back and compete for the wild card, was the last person selected by the judges to be in the round of 8 for the wild card, seemingly did not make it to the final 12 until the judges surprisingly made it the final 13 and included 'Nooper), he has by far more attention than any other contestant to this point.
I expect 'Nooper to go deep into the contest but I'm not so sure he can pull off the win. Again, he does have that likability about him and he also has a confidence about him which helps him make up for him very good but not great vocals.
GO 'NOOPER!!!!

Noop Dog was terrible last night. I think he is at risk of being knocked off right away.
I have never seen one episode of AI before last night, but I will say that I liked it.
I didn't see the first 45 minutes of the show, so I didn't see all of the performances, but I thought the next dude to go afer him was terrible. I thought the blond girl from Utah was really bad. I thought the last girl was twitchy and weird. Frankly, the guy who sang "Black or White" was terrible. I thought the judges were all on drugs (especially Paula).
There were some good performances. I like the piano-Timberlake dude and I really liked the 16 year old rock-n-roll girl with red hair. We'll see.
'Nooper really dropped the ball on his song selection. As Paula mentioned (and I think this is the first time I actually agree with something she has said), that song is "untouchable."
Not only is it untouchable, it doesn't allow you to show any range or vocal talents. The song is a piece of history and that along with Billie Jean helped make Michael Jackson legendary. That song became even more popular because of the video and dancing and red jacket with the zippers. It is such a piece of history that anyone who tried to sing it would have failed.
Really poor choice, 'Nooper. I thought he would be smarter than that. He needs to pick a slower song that he can really sing and that will showcase his talents.
Now I don't think he is the best singer in the competition but he has probably gotten the most publicity out of all the contestants and that will carry him through a few rounds. However, more performances like last night and he will find himself being kicked off. The goodwill and likability that he has generated with his "story" will only last so long with the audience.
I missed much of the show as well and I don't know most of the contestants. However, the guy who I think is the front runner is the the white dude with glasses that looks kind of like Robert Downey, Jr. He is the guy that lost his wife recently. The guy is okay looking, has the sympathy card with his wife passing away, but most importantly has a great voice with a good personality.
At the end of the day, this is a singing competition combined with a popularity contest and you have to have a great voice combined with that likability factor that connects you with the voters and this guy seems to have that.
I am fairly certain 'Nooper will get through this week but he better come back strong next week.
Interesting show. I hope he makes it through to next week to redeem himself.
I tried to call you after Paula and the other judges creamed all over the punky looking dude who sang "Black or White." To me, that guy seemed like a nut who was literally just screeching. It was annoying and both the wife and I thought he was terrible.
We could not believe how much the judges drooled over him. Whatever.
Aren't you going to post about Idol last night?
I'll leave that for your blog.
