Kiper's Grades.

Kiper gave the Skins a B+ and the Bears a B.

Again, grades are subjective and only good for entertainment value. You never know how good a draft is until the draft picks have a chance to play out.

The more I think about what the 'Skins did, the more I like it. I was ready to throw stuff at my TV immediately after we picked Malcolm Kelly. Two receivers and a TE??? WTF???

Then, I came to my senses. We picked up two of the top receivers available and arguably the best TE in the draft. All are dynamic playmakers with good size...something we did not have. After listening to the introduction interviews, I think I can grow to like these guys a lot. They all seem humble and eager to compete.

We can't answer all of our problems in one off-season. I am a little disappointed that we couldn't answer our DE problems, but given the players that were left at pick 21, before we traded to move back, I understand why we didn't reach for Calais Campbell or Phillip Merling. Too many question marks and neither one of them was dynamic enough in college to be THE answer we were looking for.

On day two, we took a versitile and very strong guard/center to fill a need. We picked up a very fast CB for additional depth. We picked up the best punter in college and we found a very successful college QB to develop.

I say good job. I give us a A- for day one and an B+ for day two. As a side note, we picked up very good players in the 2nd round that we don't have to pay 1st round money for now. It should provide some cap relief over the next few years and give us some additional flexibility to focus on the defense next year.

I would have loved to have gotten a DE but I am pretty comfortable with what we picked up. We added several offensive weapons. Keep in mind that we lost Caldwell, Lloyd, and I'm not sure on McCardell. Basically, we have Moss who has had his share of injuries over the last couple of years and is going to be 30 years old. Then there is Randle El who in my mind is better in the slot. We now have two bigger, more physical guys that should add to an already talented and young offense.

Again, regarding the D line, a lot depends on the development of Chris Wilson. He was decent last year. It looks like we will be going with Daniels and then the combo of Washington and Wilson on passing downs. Wilson got more work as the year went on so we'll see if he gets more work this year.

Again, I am satisfied with what we got.
