Brandon Lloyd goes to da Bears!

He's their problem now. I actually think it is a pretty good move for all. Lloyd is going to a team w/o a true #1 WR. He has an opportunity to become that guy. He also knows that he is at a pivotal point in his career and has to show something. The Bears recognized this and signed him to a one year deal. If he doesn't clean up his act, he may find himself out of the league all together just like Freddie Mitchell. He has to avoid the off the field issues and perform on the field. He is 26 years old and needs a great year in hopes of landing that big time contract. All that said, I wouldn't want him on my team. He is a loser and a guy that can bring a team down and ruin chemistry. I can see him possibly having a solid year in Chicago. I can also see him complaining that the QB situation sucks and that he is not getting enough touches and then quitting on his team.

Little risk and a lot of upside potential. He played for Ron Turner in college so I am sure Ron knows what he is like.

I think the #1 will be Bradley and Booker will be better than Moose as the #2. Lloyd and Rashied Davis should still be able to contribute and Devin Hester will be a threat.

I don't think wide receiver is going to be the problem. Like I have been saying, it will come down to whether they can significantly improve the O-line.

O line is probably the biggest concern but to have a guy that caught like 14 passes last year as a #1 is risky. He is unproven and inexperienced. I don't know how happy Lloyd will be to just "contribute."

I like how Lloyd announced that Rexy will be the starting QB.

I think their top 5 guys at receiver are all fine and can play in the NFL. It would be nice to have a TO-type player, but there aren't that many to begin with. I don't have any concerns at WR. I even expect them to look at the free agents and draft options, but if the Bears go with what they have, they are fine.

It's not a good corps but I suppose it will have to do.

I will bet that it is more productive than the Redskins corps when all is said and done. There will still likely be changes for both the Redskins and the Bears, but let's just see.

I want to see who the other WR is for the 'Skins. I am content with Moss as the #1 and Randle El as the #3 in the slot but I want to see who the 'Skins get as the #2.

It is also going to be difficult for Campbell and the entire offensive unit to learn the new system so that will cause some hiccups. Still, I am confident with the guys we have. The Bears corps is just unproven. They may very well end up doing great. As I have mentioned before, Bradley may be great. Booker may return to his form from 4 years ago, Hester may learn to run great routes, Lloyd may learn to shut his trap and focus on football. Don't forget they don't have a firm lock at QB. Benson hasn't shown that he can be the starter and of course the line is being overhauled. I'm just saying that there are a lot of "ifs" and "maybes."

I feel more confident with the 'Skins situation.

Rashied Davis of the Bears also may be on his way out. He didn't catch too many balls but he was their #3 WR. That would mean that the Bears would be overhauling their ENTIRE receiving corps. Interesting.

Bears fans don't seem too thrilled by the moves. Quoting one fan: "My oh My! The Bears have raised our tickets prices 8 dollars a seat in 2 years. Almost 9% and continue to not spend money to compete for a championship. Brandon lloyd, I have more in the tank than he does. I really wish the Bears could be sold to an ownership group that cares. Ths group is obviously trying to trick the fans into believing they are going to try to win a title!

Please sell the team to a group that really cares about winning."

This sounds like RobsObs on the Redskins.

You can see other fans voicing their displeasure at: http://blogs.chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/huddleup/2008/03/bears-could-los.html.

This is not an attempt to incite. RobsObs has always contended that the Redskin fans are all over the 'Skins and the Bears fans support their team. Providing the link is only to show that the Bears fans are disgruntled.

The Bears have offered Rashied $1M. If he can get more somewhere else the Bears still have the right to match.

I doubt anyone is going to offer him more for a guy who had 14 receptions last year. He is getting a very fair offer from the Bears and NO ONE is going to offer more.

As for your fan comment, pulling out a couple of quotes is just ridiculous. There are 8 total comments on the Rashied Davis story in the Trib - 8!. Of those 8, half are upset and half say move on from Rashied.

Whenever I have pulled out any comments or commented about an issue from LaCanfora's Blog (and I don't do it that often), I take an issue that has several hundred comments and I make sure that there is a very clear majority that views an issue as I do.

If you want to quote 1 or 2 fans out of 8 and say that that somehow represents the opinions of Chicago fans that is up to you - but it is very easy to dismiss such quotes as just being a couple of ignorant fans.

Let me ask you a very simple question - do you think that Redskin fans are more in love with the Skins now, or were they more in love with the team before Danny Boy took over?

I am fairly certain that they don't post up all the postings. LaCanfora's blog posts up every single post. If you look at (I believe) Rosenbloom's blog site on the Tribune which is much more benign compared to LaCanfora, he has many more postings. They are mostly negative from the fans. He posts on all sports subjects too not just the Bears unlike LaCanfora. I am fairly certain that if there was a dedicated Bears blog site you would see largely negative comments because again, that is what people like to do...complain. No one wants to post stuff up about how great this is and how great that is and I am OH SO VERY HAPPY!!!

As far as your question, no question the Redskins were loved more before Danny Boy but it was a different era then. The negativity has really been a result of FA. It has changed the sport into a business. Prices have been jacked up, everything is commercialized, ads are every where, players flip flop and are paid a ton more, as a result fans are not nearly as positive. I don't think Danny Boy has endeared himself to anyone but the negativity that you find not just in D.C. but everywhere is a result of what I just mentioned not the change in ownership. If Kent Cooke still had the team, I am confident that there would be plenty of people complaining on the blogs.
