The Madness Begins!!!

I was 13 out of 16 yesterday. Not bad but should have done better.

My losses were USC, Kent State, and George Mason (I went with my heart).

How about the Duke/Belmont game. Duke escapes with a 71-70 victory. Feel bad for Belmont as they put up a tremendous fight. They had a chance to win it down by one with 4 seconds left they were inbounding the ball right under the Duke basket and what do they do coming out of a TO? They threw it right to Duke. Nelson missed the first shot of a one and one so Belmont still had a shot with 2.7 seconds remaining but now they had to drive the length of the court. They missed and Duke won. Tough way to lose the game. Obviously, it was the most exciting game yesterday. The crowd was really pumped up.

Being a Duke hater, I was obviously disappointed. The thing that concerns me is often times a top ranked team will have a scare early on and it kind of wakens them up for the rest of the tournament and they will come out with more intensity. I'm sure Coach K was all over his team for their play and will expect a lot more from them in the next game. I just want to see Duke out.

I look forward to watching the madness continue!

I was 13-16 also. I had Kent State, USC, and Baylor losing.

Unfortunately, I didn't get to see the Duke game but I heard the end on the radio as I was driving home. Very exciting indeed.

Actually, I am not surprised about the Duke game. I think Belmont is solid and Duke is highly flawed. They don't have a low post presence and they simply are not that good a perimeter shooting team to be considered a credible threat for the national title.

I was watching the Marquette-Kentucky game and was irritated that at the end of the game Kentucky was grabbing the worst foul shooter away from the ball and getting the call. They should have called intentionals on those fouls because they clearly are not making any play on the ball. The NCAA needs to clear that up right away because it literally could have cost Marquette the game.

What's interesting about the tourney is that these smaller, mid major type teams have better chemistry. They don't have as much talent but they have guys that have been in the program for years whereas some of the bigger programs have superior athletes but sometimes those guys only stay 1 or 2 years. That's why it's not totally unexpected for the mid major teams to perform well.

Still, too bad Belmont couldn't pull out the win. The crowd was in it and it was exciting and it was just disappointing how it ended. Not just the Belmont loss but how they just gave the ball over to Duke.

I didn't see/hear about the stuff in the Marquette game but I agree that that nonsense is not fair and something should be done.

I just saw Western Kentucky hit a deep three with no time left in OT to beat Drake. That was an amazing game.

Drake came back from 16 down in the second half to force OT. They hit two free throws to go up by 1 with 5.7 seconds to go in OT.

Then WKU hit a 30 foot three pointer with no time left to win. Amazing!

That is why the NCAA tourney is so great.
