NFL Power Rankings.

ESPN has come out with their first power rankings list (see http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/powerranking?season=2007&week=1). They have the Bears ranked at 4 and the 'Skins at 19. Frankly, I was a little surprised that the 'Skins were ranked as high as they were but I based on previous ranking discussions, I think we all agree that you can't put too much into the rankings.

Very generous for the 'Skins, but who knows, maybe they will turn it around.

After about 4 weeks we will have a better sense of what the true rankings should be.

At least the Redskins start off with a game they can (and should) win. Home against Miami. If they don't win that game, it may end up being a very long season (again).

Agrizzle. It's a very winnable game and good set the tone for the season.

It's a home game and as strange as it sounds, is almost a must win game.

As far as the ranking, as mentioned, I am a little surprised at how high we are but at the same time the D has played well so far and there are so many teams that can be lumped together that being 19 is not too far a stretch.

Yes, after a few weeks, we will be able to see how the rankings shake out.

John Riggins predicted the 'Skins would go 12-4 and reach the Super Bowl on his radio show yesterday.

I think he was drunk.

19 seems about right to me...The improved defense puts them in the middle of the pack. If the offense does what it should be able to, 10-15 would be nice at the season's end.

John Riggins was going to take the Redskins D as the third overall pick in his fantasy draft. HE IS AN IDIOT!!!!!
