I like Houston. They are a QB away from being a contender. Fitzpatrick cant be their long term plan. Hes a stop gap at best. Unfortunately there aren't any quality free agent qbs coming up this offseason. It might make sense for them to trade for one. Or maybe they can pick up a quality qb that gets cut somewhere else. Its a shame because this team could be great in my opinion if they just had that one missing piece. I just don't know how long Andre Johnson and Arian Foster can play at this level. The defense is very talented and young. They need a talented QB immediately to be a serious contender before the older offensive stars' window closes.

JSR, this goes back to an earlier discussion we had on the importance of finding a franchise QB and the difference that player could make.

Agree that there is talent on Houston. Fitzpatrick is not a game changer. He is a game manager AT BEST. It is much more likely for him to lose games for you than to win them. Again, a franchise quarterback is invaluable as they can make up for the shortcomings on teams. I'll use GB as an example since you are a fan of GB. I believe you and I agree that their defense is average at best and they have not had much of a run game. If you were to put Fitzpatrick on that team, they might have won one or two games. Rodgers is a HUGE difference maker. He can change the complexion of the game.

Again, agree that there is talent on Houston but they do not have a QB that can help them win. That is why I will go back and maintain that if you could find that franchise QB, I would be willing to sacrifice trading up my first round pick as well as two additional first round picks for that franchise QB. You can build around a franchise QB and make a winner. You might be able to find a good WR or RB or OL but it's harder to build a winner around them.

Hopefully RG3 can return to form. I think the goal for the Redskins this season should be to see what they have in RG3. I know he has a chance to comeback this coming week. I would rather let him rest another week and maybe even two and have him come back after the Bye week when we assume he would be 100%. Then we have to give him an opportunity to play in a few games and see how he is improving. It would be unfair to judge him on his first game back as he would essentially be coming back on opening day whereas the rest of the league is in mid season form. It would take him a little time to get back to live game speed. Again, my hope is to see what we have in him and see if he is improving game to game.

I definitely agree that the QB is the most impactful and important single player on the team. You can have a great QB and missing pieces everywhere else on the team and still have a shot at winning any game. I think that for a team that needed to fill many holes, the price paid to get RG3 was too high (as of right now). He hasn't played enough or won anything significant for the Skins to make a final reading on whether the trade was worth it. I really hope he stays healthy. He is definitely talented and can help this team win when on the field. While I would love to see him on the field on Monday night, I think the smarter option for him would be to wait another week at least. But if the skins decide to bring him back, and they can somehow pull off a win in Dallas, they could very well win against the lowly Vikings, and terrible Bucs coming up. The skins could be right back in the mix at 5-5. That's why I think they may rush him back.

I think Gruden will be smart about it. I also think RG3 will be smart about it as will the entire franchise. I'm sure they have learned from the past.

No question RG3 will want to return. Nearly every professional athlete wants to play but again, I think everyone will remember the past and be cautious this time around.

Agree, that time will tell if the trade is worth it. However, if RG3 can prove that he can get back to his rookie form, I would be very happy with the trade. You NEED a good QB to win in this league. It might take time but you can build around a good QB.

Without good QB play, you won't go anywhere. Just look at the Pears. They have arguably the best tandem of WRs in the league in Marshall and Jeffery. They have a premier all purpose RB in Forte. They have a strong TE in Bennett. To top it off, they have a better than average O line. Still, Cutler finds ways to lose games for them. The reason is he throws picks. He LOVES to throw picks.

Put Brees or Rodgers or one of the other top QBs on that team and they could be a top of the Central. I get that there are issues on the Pear D but there are too many offensive weapons on that side of the ball and if Rodgers is there, they would probably score 30+ a game. Rodgers limits turnovers (I believe he only has 1 INT this year) as he is smart with the football and he has a strong arm with smarts.

Again, QBs are difference makers and guys you can build around. I would gladly swap my first round pick and give an additional two first rounders to find a guy like Rodgers. There are too many examples showing the impact a great QB can make on a football team.
