ESPN Power Rankings - Week 4

Skins fall two spots to #22.  We've scored more points than any other team but the problem is that we've given up a gazillion points so that makes it a little difficult to win.

Pears rise one spot to #11.  Seems right.

Puckers drop three spots to #7.  Despite being robbed of the win on MNF they don't look like a dominant team.

Agree for the most part with the rankings except the skins should be slightly higher theyve played tough and scored a lot of points in both losses. Packers should not have dropped. Seahawks are a good team.

The Deadskins are right where they should be. You have to factor in the injuries to Orakpo, Carriker and now Trent Williams, as well as a couple of their running backs. They had to sign Ryan Grant.

They have dropped off as a result of these injuries. The bad thing is that I can easily see Bob getting hurt in the next game or two and then we will be wondering if they will win even 1 more game the rest of the way.

There is something wrong with the Packers. It may be just early season rust and a hangover from the disappointment of last year, but they are beatable - especially with their O-line.

As for the Bears, I am reserving judgement. I think they are good, but the O has to gel. I like that they did not abandon the run last week. I want them to play power football - it will also help keep the pass rush at bay and should allow for some bigger plays later in games.

I am fine where everyone is ranked.

Skins have offensive weapons and have proven they can put up points. However, the defensive secondary has been atrocious. That said, you will all know byn now I don't blame the players completely. I also blame the defensive coaches for the secondary issues. The Bengals mentioned that they knew what was coming and they were prepared. We were outcoached from that standpoint.

The big concern on offense is that if Williams has to miss time that will be devastating because Jordan Black SUCKS!!!

All that said, I have no issue with where the Skins are ranked.

The Puckers are not as dominant as they have been in previous years and their ranking is right. O line is a big concern and they can't run their usual passing attack. Jennings and Nelson can't get it going because of the O line issues. GB wasn't impressive in preseason and it has carried over to the regular season. They may end up having to do more of what they did against Seattle (additional TEs and rely on ground game and shorter passes).

Pears are ranked appropriately as well. Defense has been their strong point as usual. Offensively, they have similar issues as GB (weak O line). Also, Cutler is an ass and hasn't gotten it going like he had hoped. Agree with Robs that they need to focus on the ground game and use that to set up Marshall for bigger plays. Hopefully Marshall will be okay with that and his split personality doesn't go nuts. Weird posting he put up as he is providing commentary as he is driving (real safe) on stuff Warren Sapp said about him. He's got to ignore that stuff and not bring attention to himself and just play football.

The change in offensive coordinators for the bears and packers is a cause for the offensive struggles in my opinion. There is an adjustment period before it begins to click. I expected this. I just hope the Packers can get back in track before its too late.

JSR the change in O coordinator may play a small role in the early season struggles but it is more than that. Tom Clements was promoted to O coordinator and has coached the Packers' quarterbacks since 2006, Mike McCarthy's first year in Green Bay.

However, McCarthy has always called his own plays. He relies on his offensive coordinator to help plan during the week and help make adjustments during games.

That said, I don't think there are radical changes in how the offensive system is run.

The problem for the Packers is their O line is horrible. It wasn't great to begin with but it has gotten worse (at least in the early part of the season). That being the case, Rodgers has little time to allow his playmakers time to run their full routes and get open. They may still be successful against poor pass rushing defenses but teams like the Pears and Seahawks can expose that weakness and take GB out of their game plan. It will be interesting to see how the Puckers adjust. I imagine they may have to do more of what they did against Seattle (run more multiple TE sets with focus on the run game and shorter passes).

GB is still a strong team in the NFC but they certainly don't look like the team we have seen the last couple of years.
