Skins sign Cundiff and release Ga-NO!!!

Not a big surprise here.  Both Robs and I thought this was a good possibility.  I like the move as I was never confident with Ga-NO!  He seemed kind of arrogant too which bothered me even more given that he wasn't that great.

Now we sign a veteran kicker that has proven his value in the league.

Funny because on Monday, after veteran Neil Rackers had been cut, Gano told reporters, "I'm excited to have the opportunity" to return for a fourth season in Washington.  He seemed pretty confident the job was his.  Obviously, he was wrong.

The 32-year-old Cundiff is among the NFL's best on kickoffs, racking up an NFL record 44 touchbacks last season.

Again, a solid acquisition.  Hopefully he fairs better than Gano but if not, as mentioned, we can make a quick and easy switch as Gano will probably still be looking for employment.

Big upgrade. It may get them to seven wins this year (from 5-6).

Gano has cost us a few wins the last couple of years so it's good to get a proven veteran in here.

Cundiff hasn't been sharp from 50+ yards but I can live with that as long as he is accurate from within that range.

I wouldn't get too high on Cundiff. There's a reason hes been on 10 different teams in the last 10 years. I guess he might be better than Ga-no-good

Kickers are a dime a dozen so if one doesn't work out there are 10 other ones ready to be signed.

However, kicking has been an issue for the Skins and it's good to get a proven veteran in there instead of Gano.

As far as his career, he was often signed to fill in for a team's injured kicker but was released when the kicker got healthy or signed in the offseason and released prior to the regular season probably to provide some competition for the team's incumbent kicker.

Either way, to me this is an upgrade over the weak Gano. Again, if it doesn't work out, it's an easy position to replace.
