Skins resign Doughty and McIntosh

Good moves. I like Doughty. Not the most talented guy but seems like a good team guy. He's gritty and solid. He is a good special teamer and a guy that is capable of playing either safety position.

McIntosh is okay. Not sure how well he fits in the 3-4 scheme and he is not guaranteed to start as Perry Riley has been manning the other inside LB spot. Riley seems more suited for that position but it's still good to keep McIntosh as he is familiar with the team and if he doesn't start, he can certainly provide depth.

My opinion of these two is exactly opposite of yours. Doughty is slow and is guaranteed to make a mistake in each game he plays. He may be gritty, but he has to be to make up for his physical shortcomings. If we need him for depth, ok. I just hope he doesn't have to play much.

McIntosh had 110 tackles last year and is constantly around the ball. The problem he has now is that at 232 pounds, he's a bit undersized to be a 3-4 interior linebacker. I think he's a playmaker and can help. In the 3-4, however, he may need to be replaced by a bigger dude eventually.

I don't want Doughty to start. I would most certainly like Atogwe and Landry in there hands down. However, Doughty is a strong character guy and a good Redskin. He can be a strong special teamer and if needed, can serve in the safety positions (better suited at the SS spot). Again, the preference is for him to not be in there but he is serviceable in those spots.

Agree that McIntosh is not ideally suited for the 3-4 and he was uneven last year but he knows the defense and is a nice resigning.

These guys are OK - you need them on any NFL team. They are good signings.
