The circle is complete -- Bruce Allen hired as GM

Solid move. Frankly, just getting Cerrato out of there was a tremendous move.

Allen is a proven personnel guy that has built a Super Bowl winner in TB and a Super Bowl team in Oakland. He has strong ties to both the area and the Redskins. He grew up in McLean, and his father is still considered a legend in the area. George Allen coached the Redskins from 1971-77. Bruce Allen went to the University of Richmond, and his brother, George, is a former U.S. Senator from Virginia.

Having worked in Oakland, he knows how to deal with a hands on owner.

What's interesting is that Allen worked well together with Gruden in both Oakland and TB. Gruden just signed an extension to continue his run on MNF ending discussions of him coaching next season. However, we all know that he can change his mind. He was signed by NFL Network and jumped ship to go to MNF upsetting many at NFL Network. Will be interesting to see if he would be willing to jump MNF for the Redskins. I'm sure he wants to get back into coaching and he knows Allen well so will be interesting to see if he is lured back to the sidenlines in D.C.

I must say, I was hoping for Holmgren to be lured away from these talks with the Browns by Snyder's checkbook. I was a little disappointed when I heard Bruce Allen's name because he was the GM for the Bucs from 04-08 when the team was pretty average.

After taking a step back, I'm pretty happy with this move. Allen is the GM...a title that no one under Snyder has had. He built a Super Bowl team in Oakland a few years ago. He's well connected and he's already proven to be successful, so he should get the autonomy needed do the job correctly. He will have the support of an owner who will do what's necessary from a financial perspective to attract talent.

My only knock on the guy is, Tampa Bay sucked for a couple years while he was there. I've heard he doesn't have a history of drafting well. We'll just have to see if that criticism is accurate or not. Oh yeah...one other thing...his brother is the one who said "Macaca." Hopefully, he's not a douche like his bro.

Frankly, I am just happy that Cerrato is out. Allen can't do a whole lot worse than him.

I must say that I don't really have any feelings about Chuckie but wouldn't mind seeing him brought in at this point. We need to be building something and the fact that Allen and Chuckie have worked successfully in the past is promising.

Also, I like that the two of them have worked with a hands on owner so they are aware of that. The fact that Chuckie runs the WC offense is also good so we wouldn't have to completely change schemes, terminology, etc.

There is no guarantee that Chuckie is coming aboard but I wouldn't mind that move.

For now, I am just excited about Cerrato being out.

OK. I agree. Today is a great day. Anything is better than having Vinny running the show. I'm not complaining about anything.

REJOICE!
