CP - NFC Offensive Player of the Week

Congratulations to CP for being named the NFC Offensive Player of the Week. He had a great performance and really showed his leadership both with his play and leading the team on that critical fourth down play at the end of the game.

I think we're going to see CP flourish now that he's not running 50-gut every other play. We have one of the best backs in the league...he was just handcuffed for 4 years in Gibbsy's system.

Interesting point. It's kind of funny that Gibbs was brought back here to restore the Redskins to greatness. It never happened and what's kind of not been mentioned is how Zorn has essentially taken the same personnel and has had greater success. Again, people don't seem willing to talk about Gibbs and his failure in his second coming and the offense kind of stagnating and his issues with understanding the play clock, free agency, and the rule book.

All I know is that opposing teams better watch out for the Zornado that is coming!

Gibb's second tenure wasn't a failure at all in my opinion. He may not have brought the team to greatness but he at least restored some stability and respect to the organization. It seems to me his 2nd tenure was more a stepping stone for the next guy...and that guy is Zornado.

I like Gibbs. He has been great for D.C. and will forever be a legend around here. He brought some stability to the organization but he certainly struggled his second time around. Again, he consistently struggled with the play clock, he didn't understand all of the rules of the game, and he wanted to play GM (something he fought with Bobby Beathard over in his first stint). I think Gibbs loved the idea of free agency but he didn't use it effectively. We also had WAY too many coaches on his staff, particularly on the offensive side of the ball. I think this caused some chaos and confusion.

I do think Gibbs was outstanding during the Sean Taylor tragedy. I am not sure if another coach could have handled that situation any better. However, I think the game had just passed him by. The athletes of today are different than they were in the 80s and early 90s. It seemed like the players certainly respected him which was good but they seem more in tune with Zorn who seems to understand today's players better.

I am not disappointed with the second coming of Gibbs. He did bring some stability and was helpful but it is becoming more evident to me that we are better off with Zorn. Not just because Gibbs is out but because we have streamlined the offensive coaches and system and made it better for our personnel. The offense is playing pretty well and we are still trying to learn the system. I assume it will only improve as the players get more comfortable with it AND when we can get guys like Thomas and Kelly out there (hopefully they pan out).
