Springs is coming!

Shawn Springs said that he will be coming to camp June 5 after missing the first two weeks of voluntary camp. He would have come this coming week but because of the Memorial Day holiday and the Redskins have the week off, he will wait until the following week. That means all the 'Skins will be there.

RobsObs tried to make a big deal out of Sean Taylor and Shawn Springs being out but Taylor reported shortly after RobsObs tried to incite everyone and Taylor seemed fine. Springs is now coming.

If I were RobsObs, I would be more concerned about your own house and look at your Bears.

So we'll have perhaps one of the top 5 cover corners in the league in Springs, a proven stud FS in Taylor, a rookie phenom in Landry, and a seemingly rejuvenated Smoot as our starters. Rogers and Macklin round it out. Hmm...seems pretty good to me.

No matter how you look at it, this is a HUGE improvement over the lethal combination of Rumph, Wright, and Archuleta/Fox/Vincent.

M. Washington is practicing too. Looks like his hip is fine.

No matter. RobsObs will still hate on the 'Skins and say that the secondary is the worst in the league. The funny thing is if these guys were all on the Bears then they would magically become the greatest secondary in the history of the universe.

JKD, you love to make up scenarios and say what I would say. But of course, I am right more often than you, so it must make you feel good to try to be me.

Here is the bottom line. Springs and/or Washington won't be on the team when the season starts. One or both will be cap casualties after June 1.

Smoot sucks. He used to be good - 3 YEARS AGO. He lost his starting job last year. If you cannot start for Minnesota (look up their pass defense), you aren't very good.

Rogers is average at best. He is prone to the big play and certainly has not lived up to being the 9th pick in the 2005 draft.

Macklin. Who?

Taylor and Landry should be good for years.

But, none of that will matter anyway. IT ALL STARTS UP FRONT AND THE REDSKINS SUCK UP FRONT. They will be tackling running backs after 4 and 5 yard gains, and without a pass rush their secondary will continue to suck.

I cannot wait to again prove you guys wrong and see you scratching your heads in bewilderment about why the defense is so bad.

No, you are incorrect (again), RobsObs. Your game analysis for the entire second half of the season was for shat! You know it too.

We'll see what happens to either Springs or Washington. No point in addressing it until something happens. Right now, they are 'Skins.

Smoot lost his way but there is no reason to believe that he can't get back to where he was. He has proven that he has talent and he should be in the prime of his career so there is not reason to believe that he can't play well. Rogers is in his third year and should definitely show signs of improvement. He too has shown that he can play but he has to be more consistent. We'll see how both these guys pan out. I expect improvement. In any event, they are still better than Wright and Rumph.

We have agreed that the line needs improvement. However, that said, I think the line will be better than last year. I think Carter, Griffin, Salavea, and Golston will be okay. I am most worried about Philip Daniels. He is too old. Run support should be greatly enhanced with a stronger LB corps to include Fletcher, Washington, and McIntosh. These three have already been told that they are the starters. Marshall has been told that he will have to fight for playing time. The defense has improved but they still have some issues so we'll see how they play. If they can at least come in middle of the pack statistically, that will be very helpful.

Whatever. I am just having fun watching all the Bears wanting out. Then again, it doesn't matter because, according to RobsObs, outside of Urlacher everyone is replaceable and interchangeable.

Some of my game predictions were off - but I still got the wins and losses correct. You certainly cannot say the same. I don't know anyone who can actually predict the score AND exactly how a game will play out.

I was 32-12 (.727) with my picks. You were 24-18 (.571). The facts speak for themselves.

This year, I am going to put up all of the games w/point spreads and we can keep track of overall NFL picks and just the Bears and Redskins picks. I'm sure I will win out by a wide margin because I know football better than you.

Smoot WAS good 3 YEARS AGO! Rogers is no first round pick. Macklin?

I agree that the Redskins linebackers and safeties will provide better run support than last year. So instead of giving up 20 yard runs teams will be going 5 yards at a time.

MOST of your game analysis was off. You predicted that the Bears would dominate and Rexy would have great games and you predicted that the 'Skins would quit, etc. You were WAY off. I don't remember the picks being as skewed as you say but I'm sure we were about even in the second half of the season.

Fine. Lets pick the way you have laid it out. Bring it.

Question for you, RobsObs: With a secondary to include a healthy Shawn Springs, Sean Taylor, Laron Landry, and either Rogers or Smoot vs. Rumph, Taylor, Archuleta/Vincent/Fox, and Wright, do you believe the Redskins secondary is better than last year? Please give me a "yes" or "no" response and not go on some wild diatribe.

Macklin is a 28 year old DB from AZ. He was drafted in the 3rd round out of Penn St. by the Colts. He has had productive seasons and should be an improvement over either Wright or Rumph.

Fine. We agree that the LB corps and safeties are improved and I believe the line will be improved. I'm not saying we are great up front but because guys are healthy, stronger, and more hungry, they should be better than last year. We have to remember that this was a very good defense just two years ago so I don't think there is any reason to believe that they can't turn it around and be a solid defense.

At least we don't have guys running to management begging to be traded.

Like I said, show me one person who can predict how a game is going to play out before the game happens. There isn't anyone. But, I can pick winners much better than you and most other people. Go back on the blog and see our posted records each week.

There are scenarios in which Springs and Washington remain on the team. The 'Skins are about $4.5M under the cap. They have to sign their draft picks and most of the money will be used up on Landry. If they choose to work out a new deal with Cooley this year (he is in a contract year and it would be wise), and they actually try to address their D-line problem, it seems likely to me that they need to free up some space. They could do a bunch of restructurings or cut some other guys, or they could just make one cut with one of those guys.

The secondary is better. The addition of Landry makes that happen. I don't believe that Smoot is any good and I don't believe Rogers is anything more than an average NFL corner. If Springs is on the team it will help.

Macklin? You mean the guy who had diminishing statistics in his 3 NFL seasons w/Arizona. Below average player from what I can see. Kenny Wright was more productive than D-Mac and I'm sure he will be more productive in Cleveland than D-Mac will be in Washington.

The operative term is TWO YEARS AGO. Their line is older and has an overpriced 3rd down pass rush specialist trying to be an every down player. The linebacking corps is old (we'll see if Rocky plays and is any good). The safeties are very good. After Springs, the corners aren't good. All of this crapheap is going to do is end up ranked 22nd in the NFL or worse on D this year.

You are crying about Alex Brown. Brown lost his starting job. He has 3 years left on his contract. The Bears aren't going to trade him for nothing. The Bears will be a top-10 D even if we don't have Briggs or Brown. You know why? Because we have talent and depth.

The only thing that matters is that the Skins are going to crush the Bears this year. Urlacher is going to cry cuz they lost so badly. And then Daniel Snyder is going to buy the Bears.

Then Matar-Alloo woke up from his wet dream about Sly ravaging him.

By the way, what is the Sly blog website?
