Theo to the Cubs?

Theo Epstein is "on the cusp" of joining the Chicago Cubs, according to the Boston Herald.

If he comes and builds a championship, he would be a sure fire MLB HOFer and a legend. Honestly, to build a champion out of the Sox and then the Cubs would be a remarkable feat.

From what I've heard, the Cubs are a mess. Not only is the talent on the team is lacking, but the payroll is out of whack and the farm system is depleted.

The Cubs have followed the Snyderatto model for building a team over the last few years, especially when Lou Piniella was managing. Theo would have a lot of work to do to rebuild the organization, but success would make the guy a legend.

Bring in Theo and let him try to build his legend.

I would love to see him and Terry Francona together in Chicago.

They are a mess right now. We have aging vets locked into longer term deals and underperforming. It makes those guys virtually untradable (Soriano, Zambrano, etc.).

It's also tough because there is not much in the farm system either.

From what I understand, Theo is a very bright guy but this is not going to be turned around overnight. This will take a couple, three years before we actually start seeing if Theo can make a difference.
