The People have Spoken!

In ESPN's preseason NFL rankings, sports nation voted and said that the Redskins were ranked 14 and the Bears were ranked 21. About what you would expect. Still, Robsobs believes the Bears are going to compete for the Super Bowl. Given all of their issues, I find that very hard to believe. Still, crazier things have happened (not too often though),

Fair rankings given where they ended up. But, as I have stated many times - I think the Bears have addressed their biggest problems from last year.

I like their continuity and believe that it works in the NFL.

We'll see.

I disagree that they addressed their problems (RB is a question mark, QB is not settled, O line is still a question mark, Safety a question mark).

Continuity? They are replacing their RB, they have a completely brand new receiving corps. Starting QB is not settled. LBs, CBs, and D line remain largely intact. Safety will be different from last year.

There is quite a bit of overhaul on the offensive side of the ball.

You just keep repeating yourself. As a knowledgeable Bears fan, I am comfortable. We'll see.

Am I saying something incorrect? Aren't those facts that I presented? If so, then where is the continuity?

Every team has some turnover - that happens. The Bears do not have an unusual amount of turnover and in my opinion are better in many positions.

We'll see, but I am very comfortable that this will be a great year for the Bears.

Lets get back on point. You talked about continuity. Half the offense could be different this year from last (new RB, all new WRs, new tackle, not settled at QB). That doesn't seem like continuity to me.

The Skins may have a new #2 WR and in certain packages, possibly a new TE (Davis). The defense was supposed to be the same but with Daniels injury, we brought in Jason Taylor. Otherwise, it is the same defense. That seems more like continuity to me.

I don't know maybe it's just me.

We'll see. The QBs and receivers have been on the team, so they aren't learning a new offense. The O-line has a new guy coming in. The tailback position should be upgraded.

So we will have 3 major contributors on offense who weren't on the team last year.

On D there are no big players who will be taking over.

Plenty of continuity.

The projected WRs are Booker and Lloyd. They are both new. Forte is new. LT is new. The QB situation is/has been unsettled. Including the QB, they would have 5 new starters. That's not continuity. At least, not in my book. I suppose our definitions of continuity is different.

Bradley will start and Devin Hester will be one of the key receivers.

Booker is returning home. Lloyd also knows Ron Turner's offense. The receivers are familiar.

Both QBs have been with the team and have been starters - you are just trying to make that worse than it is.

New LT - no problem, they needed an upgrade.

New running backs - no problem.

The D is part of the team and there are no real changes there.

That is a lot of continuity.

Bradley has caught like 4 passes in his career. Lloyd is still a possibility as a starter.

Booker is returning home AFTER 5 YEARS! Things have changed since then.

Lloyd is familiar with Turner's college offense from 6 years ago. Things have changed since then.

Not being settled on a QB is big. No matter who is selected, they will be looking over their shoulder and may very well face a quick hook if they don't perform well and separate himself from the other.

You can say that I am trying to make it worse than it is and I can say that you are trying to sugar coat it. There is still significant turnover on that offense.

Again, when I think of continuity, I think of one or maybe two changes, not four or five.

Look at both the O and D and special teams and coaching and GM and ownership - that is what makes up an organization.

The Bears are fairly stable.

If you don't agree - fine. No problem.
