Sean Taylor Dead at 24.

Pretty shocking and sad. Not a whole lot more to say. Last night it sounded a little more promising as it seemed like he showed some signs of improvement with some reported facial expressions and response to a hand squeeze.
Just kind of hard to believe that we won't see Taylor back there making plays in the secondary for the 'Skins. Every time he was in the game at any moment you felt like he could change the course of the game. He was a true playmaker that was having probably the best year of his career. He was shaping up to be a perennial Pro Bowl type player.
Again, just sad that a young man with all the promise in the world and who was the father of a little girl was gunned down in what looks like a burglary attempt. I'm sure more details will come as the investigation continues but today is just pretty shocking and sad.

What I find interesting is that in the African-American community he was a real hero. After class today I was talking with a number of my students and a couple of them were really bummed out. He wasn't a media darling by any means, but he had a very, very strong following.

It's too bad that he is just another victim of gun violence. I'm sure his family will be taken care of financially, but his daughter will never get to really know her father.

It is very sad. It's interesting because since he didn't talk to the media, you never really got a good feel for who he was off the field. I am not really even sure what he sounds like. Still, he was one of the most popular players on the Redskins and had a cult like following.

It still is just sad that a 24 year old kid with so much promise and a baby girl was gunned down.

It is sad, but it is all too common - especially among young African American males. It literally happens every single day, but because Taylor is a celebrity we take special notice. If you read the Post or the Baltimore Sun, literally every week you can find a story of a young man with kids who was shot down in his prime.

We'll see what the details of his case are, but it seems pretty clear that he was targeted (the phone line was cut before the attack). The question now is why? It will probably end up that he "disrespected" someone, or something stupid like that.

I know tragedies happen every day. When you read/hear about them, they are sad as well.

Still, I will very much miss seeing Sean Taylor out on the field for the Redskins. He was a special player and he was fun to watch. I am saddened knowing that we can't watch him out there anymore.

There isn't much I can say that hasn't been said already. A young kid who was maturing into a man before our eyes is gone. It's a sad day and regardless of the fact that I didn't personally know him or that I didn't agree with how he seemed to react to adversity in his life, Sean Taylor's passing has impacted me. It's impacted all of us...you too Robs. We've spent time reflecting on this tragedy and expressed our thoughts on this blog site because this sad event is something that makes us think about everything that we treasure in our lives...Our families, our children, our seemingly safe and secure places in this world. I don't dwell on this situation because of some personal attachment I have for the guy. I dwell on it because he was a family man and a new father and because he was at home late at night with his family when this terrible event happened. He didn't deserve this. No one deserves something like this.

It sickens me to turn on the news and see Taylor's face and "1983-2007" under his name. He was a just a kid who had so much promise and was loved by his peers and, from all accounts, a person who cared for everyone around him. He will be missed.

It is hard to watch the Taylor coverage on tv. It's hard to see some of the footage and just know that this guy who was a superior athlete is gone at such a young age and with so much more football left inside of him.

Again, I don't know him personally but I will really miss watching him play.
