3 Days and Counting!

There's an 8 minute highlight video on Youtube of the 'Skins vs. Chargers in '86. We were losing 21-3 and came back to win with lots of big plays and timely interceptions. It was quite a contrast to what Gibbsy gets out of the '07 'Skins.

If we don't open up the offense and create turnovers, I don't see how we can win this game. It's possible, but I won't hold my breath.

One of the big issues will be containing Romo. We need to be able to put some pressure on him and also keep him inside of the pocket. We have been hurt the last two weeks when both Clemens and McNabb were able to get outside the pocket and either scramble for a first down or scramble and find the open receiver. Romo is at his best when he scrambles so containing him will be huge. This is easier said than done.

The other big issue will be to continue what we did last week on offense. Mix up the run and pass. We need the running game to work. We have to have long, sustaining drives that keep their offense off the field. They have a high powered offense and we don't want to get into a shoot out with them. We have to keep their offense off the field and wear down their defense with a strong running game. At the same time, mix in the passing game effectively.

One huge concern is the injuries we now have in the secondary. Rogers is out, Taylor is out, Springs is dealing with his father's situation, and Smoot has a nagging hamstring injury. This does not bode well to counter against their strong passing attack. Also, the injuries we seem to have with our receivers isn't going to help. I'm not sure if Moss is going to play, Thrash is out, Lloyd is out. It basically leaves us with Randle El, McCardell, Reche, and Jimmy Farris.

No question it will be tough but I am looking forward to the game.

The game plan used against the Eagles was perfect. Better execution would have meant 30-35 points scored. Campbell can obviously handle playing at a consistent and high level. Let's see if the rest of the offense can follow his lead. We'll need to score 30-35 to have a shot.

The defense let us down against the Eagles. They blew it.

We don't need to score 30-35 points to have a shot. It would be nice to score that many but like I said, we have to control the clock and keep their offense off the field.

Again, the big problem is that we have a number of injuries to the WRs and DBs which is really going to hurt. The DBs is a little bit more concerning as Dallas has a strong passing attack. It's also a little disappointing that once the coaches decide to open it up a little bit, we lose our WRs. Whatever, we have to make due with what we have and push forward.

We'll need 30-35 points if the defense's holes open up again.

The defense has played well in games against one dimensional offenses (Green Bay, Detroit, Arizona) and against the not so good offenses (Miami, Jets). When the opposition has a solid running game and a passing game, I don't think we have the personnel to contain those teams because we can't create pressure with anyone up front except for Andre Carter. Double team him and our front four are taken care of.

I'm curious to see how we attack Romo while preventing Jones and Barber from going crazy. It will either be interesting or it will be like the Pats game all over again.
