BYE BYE, TANK!

After repeated violations, the Bears finally waived the controversial tackle. I actually commend the Bears for making the move. GM, Jerry Angelo, issued a pretty strong statement saying that he was "embarrassed" by Tank's actions. It truly is embarrassing that a guy, even after serving jail time and losing a friend to gunshots, still cannot get it right. I'm sure there will be interest in Tank. The guy has talent but he is a fool for not being able to keep his head on straight.

Maybe RobsOb's local team will pick him up so they can be close and continue their conjugal visits.

What a clown. It's a shame really. What does it take for a guy with that much talent who did something as stupid as he did and still received the support of his employer to understand that he has to change his ways? Pac-Man still goes to strip clubs, Tank still gets tanked and drives, RobsObs still has his head up his arse and tries to convince us that it's sunny outside. When will the craziness end?

I said Tank had to go. What more do you want from me?

After his suspension, the Redskins will cozy up with Tank and bring him to Washington. They need D-line help desperately.

Then we'll see how soon you change your tune on Tank.

If the 'Skins pick him up, I'm sure conditions will be set to ensure the organization is protected and can opt out of a deal. I'm not sure it will happen though. Local sports radio says the team really isn't interested in bringing more trouble to Ashburn.

Regarding what I want from you, I want you to put on some Chris Cooley shorts and sing Hail to the Redskins when the 'Skins beat the Bears on Dec. 6. (Although I stick by my prediction that the Bears will win that game).

I wouldn't mind Tank coming to the 'Skins. ONLY if he signed a minimum salary contract that was loaded with conduct code clauses. Tank has talent and we need D-line help. However, I do NOT want a problem guy on the team. The Bears treated him more than fairly. They bent over backwards to take care one of their own. They did right by him and even after all of his mistakes and all of the the Bears goodwill, he screwed up. I applaud the Bears for releasing him.

Again, I don't mind Tank coming to the 'Skins as long as the contract is written right.

Just as I though, it is not about moral principles - just win baby!

No problem.

What are you talking about? I still think Tank is a thug. I don't like what he has done. He is an idiot for it. He has had several opportunities to right his ship. MAYBE being kicked off the team and possibly being suspended for a full year will make a difference. Maybe not. If he is able to rehabilitate, he has the talent to be a productive member of someone's team. The 'Skins need D-line help so why not take a chance on him? HOWEVER, I say again, that the contract needs to written so that there are very explicit escape clauses if he violates pre-written code of conduct clauses. It should also be a minimum salary contract so that he proves that he can be productive AND be a good citizen. What is wrong with that?

Given the history of issues Tank has had, I don't blame the Bears for cutting him. They don't need to put up with it any longer. Still, I don't think what just happened is too terribly serious. He was slightly impaired and he was going 40 in a 25 MPH zone. Not to downplay the seriousness of drinking and driving, but this sort of thing happens all the time. If Tank's got half an ounce of decency, he will grow from this predicament and he could become a model NFL citizen if he's given a chance by some other team a year from now.

Or maybe monkeys will fly out of my butt.

Nothing. It's all about winning.

Last year, you complained that the Bears kept him after his violation of his gun probation. You were all over him. Go check out what you wrote:

The Bears thought he had rehabilitated himself and would not cause any more trouble. But, you basically said, no they are just keeping him because they want to win the Super Bowl. You made such a fuss, but now you are saying that you don't have any trouble if the Redskins pick him up.

Don't pull out, "with a good behavior clause" because any team can cut a player for conduct detrimental to the team. The Bears did it.

You'd take him because he could help the Redskins improve their pathetic D-line. I have no real issue with the Redskins taking him, I am just pointing out that you are now contradicting the whole premise for your argument from just a couple of months ago.

Deepie, the fact is that less than 48 hours after OTAs ended, Tank is out doing his thing. I am quite sure the Bears organization (players, coaches, management) talked to him about staying out of trouble. And he couldn't do it.

It seems quite likely to me that when he met with the coaches and management yesterday morning, they asked him if he had been drinking. He is a stand up guy and probably said yes. So they cut him. We'll see what the blood test reveals, but it really doesn't matter because he needed to make sure that he stayed out of trouble.

The guy had the full support of the organization and he let them down.

How am I changing my argument? If Tank was on the Redskins and he had had a history of breaking the law, then is found with range of weapons to support a small army, then says things to officers saying he would basically take them out if they weren't officers (or something to that effect), then drugs are found on his best friend (I'm sure some of that was for Tank), then that same best friend is gunned down, then he is arrested and sent to jail, I do not want that guy on my team and I would have hoped the 'Skins would have gotten rid of him.

I applaud the Bears for releasing him. NOW, as another franchise, I don't bringing Tank in and interviewing him and working him out and offering him a minimum salary contract heavily laden with code of conduct clauses. It's a no risk situation for me. Tank has everything to lose. He needs to be spot clean at all times. If he violates any clause in any way, I would want the 'Skins to release him because he STILL hadn't learned his lesson. However, if he is a model employee and citizen then everyone wins.

What is wrong with that? Where am I contradicting anything?

As far as Tank coming clean, he had no choice. I'm sure the Bears demanded to know from Tank if he was drinking and it didn't matter what he said because the tests would show the truth. It would behoove him to tell the truth if he had ANY hope of remaining with the team. He would like like an even bigger idiot (hard to think that that is actually possible) if he lied and said that he wasn't drinking.

Fine. Good luck Tank! Hope you can get you life together and not waste your talent.
