Schilling's Sox Real?

I know Curt Schilling is an egomaniac. He loves to voice his opinion on anything and everything. If the guy had the opportunity, he would probably like to be miked during a game he is pitching and call his own game. Still, I don’t think he is so self absorbed as to create a “Natural” type of moment and paint his sock for the drama. Thoughts?

I seriously doubt that a pair of socks that are in Cooperstown would have been painted to appear bloody as new allegations would indicate. Schilling may be a drama-queen but how would painting the socks have given him any advantage? Do you really think the Yankees would have cared if he was bleeding out of his ankle?

I don't think the Yankees would have cared if he was bleeding out of his arse. They lost that's all that matters. Schilling's doctor who did the sutures mentioned that there would be tugging on the sutures when Schilling played and he fully expected some blood to seep out. He further mentioned that a sock is like a sponge and just a little bit can create a substantial patch of blood on the sock. Think about it this way. When you take a dumper and you start wiping. Sometimes you have to wipe and wipe and wipe to make sure there is no more doo doo around. You wipe so hard, you start to bleed. It just takes a lil' blood to leave a patch on the TP. Same concept.

I'm sure he was bleeding and had a serious injury.

Torre was outmanaged in that game. He should have had a bunch of batters all bunt to the mound to make Schilling move and loosen up those sutures.

It was the same kind of mistake as LaRussa pitching to Kirk Gibson with 2 outs in the ninth, a man on second, first base open and a one run lead against the Dodgers back years ago.

A lineup of sluggers bunting? Are you kidding? With that lineup, I would have taken my chance with the injured Schilling.

You only would have needed to do it a couple of times during the early innings. Then, you could have taken him out in the 4th-7th innings.

They just made it too easy. I would have done things very differently, as I am quite sure many managers would have done. Torre blew it.

It's easy to make claims and strategies after the fact.

Schilling was rocked by the vaunted Yankee lineup in Game 1 of the series. He had a unique procedure to tie his tendon to his bone so it wouldn't move. His ankle is bleeding. With all of that and when you have the second coming of Murderers Row, why have them bunt? That's nonsense.

We will just have to disagree.
