LaRon Rules!!!!

I would have liked a D lineman but the more I see and hear about LaRon, I like him! Skins safeties have to be considered the best tandem in the league. I think we need to start talking about Super Bowl! SKINS RULE!!!! HAIL TO THE REDSKINS!!!!! ROBSOBS STINKS!!!!

So much for the rent-a-safety tactics we were using last year. We now have two of the best. I can see receivers short-arming every pass thrown across the middle now. Landry and Taylor will put fear in the hearts of opposing wide-outs. Great pick, but....

What about our D-Line???!!!???

We didn't draft one d-lineman!? Is Gibbsy sniffing glue? He did say that the coaching staff felt that LB was a greater need, so maybe they knew what they were doing in drafting two apparently very productive college LBs. Hopefully Griffin and Joe Saliva can stay healthy this year.

Again, I am very comfortable with the pick of Landry. He seems like a sure fire starter. Also, given his speed, athleticism, and instincts, it may allow for the bigger Taylor to play closer to the line in run support.

Yes, I agree. Where is the D lineman? That had to be the most pressing need and we didn't address it. I actually don't have too big a problem with the Griffin, Saliva, Golston combo. I am not happy with Philip Daniels. He had 3 sacks last year and is only getting older. He looks like an old man out there. That is going to hurt us. Carter came on towards the end of last year so hopefully he can continue to improve. Unless we address the D-line with free agency, that is going to cause us problems. As I have mentioned repeatedly, I don't care how good your secondary is, if you can't get pressure on the QB, he will burn you.

I agree that we needed help at LB also but that wasn't the more pressing need. We are fine with Fletcher and I assume McIntosh will play. RobObs thinks that Washington is gone. I'm not sure about that one. I like Washington and hope he stays with us. If he doesn't, it won't kill us. The guy is coming off of hip surgery (hard to come back from) and he is getting older. If he leaves, we could replace him with Lemar Marshall who could move back to his more comfortable/more natural outside LB position. No question we needed depth at LB; however, I am disappointed that we didn't even attempt to draft a D-lineman.

Then what is the deal with drafting a QB? I know it was a late pick and the guy has minimal chance of making the team but QB?!

Some are saying the LB out of USC could be used as a DE by double G. The guy is tall and fast and says he wants to put on weight to be more productive at the next level.

The other LB out of Pitt is apparently a tackling machine. He QB'd his defensive team in college so he must have some smarts. He's built like a bowling ball and he was a 1st team all Big East player twice. He was a semifinalist for the Butkus award last year. He could be a steal and could eventually start once the Fletcher-Baker era comes to a close.

Daniels was a disappointment, but I had a bigger problem with our inability to stop the run. We lost at least 5 games last year because we couldn't stop the run to get the defense off the field and give our offense a chance to score. That problem was a direct result of inconsistency at DT and poor LB play. Hopefully Fletcher is a difference maker and hopefully McIntosh can learn how to read so he can understand the playbook.

I will say that given how bad our secondary was last year, at least we've made dramatic improvements there. We may not get as much pressure on the QB as needed, but it will be tough to get open against our DBs. The only negative is we don't have Mike "I like it when you grab my" Rumph and that other useless corner whose name I can't remember around to make fun of this year.

From Yahoo.com: http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news;_ylt=AmOqm3RuS.t_mq8yyLs7V1.b2bYF?slug=ap-redskinsdraft&prov=ap&type=lgns

Gibbs said the Redskins were never close to picking a defensive lineman, even though the current group had trouble rushing the passer and stopping the run. He said the additions at linebacker and in the secondary should lead to better coverage, allowing the line more time to get to the passer.

"What we went through last year," Gibbs said, "a lot of it was the coverage."

I don't know much about our LB picks but if what you say is true, then they sound like pretty good pick ups.

We were hurt by the run because Carter was blown away and then to compound the problem Warrick Holdman couldn't fill in to tackle. Carter did improve so hopefully that will help and getting rid of Holdman can ONLY help. Also, Fletcher should be able to fill in the gaps and is a sure handed tackler. Still, we need pressure. Daniels cannot get it done. Maybe it's a matter of defensive schemes and sending CB blitzes or Taylor on blitzes. We'll see. Apparently double G is planning on moving to a more Bear style of defense. We'll see how that works.

Yes, I will miss making fun of Mike "HEY! How do you expect me to make that play when I got my head stuck up my" Rumph and Kenny "I am always wrong that I have forgotten what is" Wright.

Well, onward and upward and the 'Skins are definitely in the running to take the East. Frankly, it is probably the most up for grabs division in the league. The Giants stink and are in a lot of turmoil. Philly is aging. Washington had a number of injuries last year but finally found an identity that worked and their defense should be somewhat improved. Dallas seems to be the front runner to take the division but it's all up for grabs in my mind.

HAIL TO THE REDSKINS!!!

Regarding the article, WTF?!!!!

I see it the exact opposite. Sure, coverage was terrible but again, if you can't get pressure on the QB, it doesn't matter who you got playing back there, he will beat you.

I suppose we'll see if Gibbsy is right in his analysis this coming season.

Like I have been saying - Gibbsy has lost it. He doesn't have a clue anymore.

That said, LaRon is good and possibly great. The rest of the Redskin draft doesn't look particularly good.
