RG3 cleared to play Sunday

Robert Griffin III has been cleared to play and is practicing with his Washington Redskins teammates after suffering a mild concussion.

Griffin went through the NFL's concussion protocol after being knocked out of Sunday's game against Atlanta and was cleared to return to Wednesday's practice. The second overall pick in Aprils' draft is set to start Sunday against Minnesota.

The rookie quarterback left the game against Atlanta with a mild concussion after being hit by the Falcons' Sean Weatherspoon while scrambling on third-and-goal in the third quarter.

The 22-year-old Heisman Trophy winner is the NFC's third-leading passer and the NFL's top leading quarterback rusher.

Interesting as the Viqueens will no doubt be coming after RG3 trying to knock him out of the game.  I can only assume the Shannys will not run any option plays this week (as they didn't the last couple of weeks).  RG3 is going to have to be smarter with the football and slide, run/throw out of bounds when he sees the play break down.  I understand that he is a tough guy and wants to fight for the extra yard but that extra yard won't mean much if he is shelved on the sidelines for multiple weeks.

If the doctors say he can play then fine. If there were any risk at all I would sit him for another week as a precaution. But, I won't go against the doctors. Plus, I'm sure the Shannies wouldn't risk the franchise if there were any real risk.

Interestingly, I am picking the Deadskins to win for the first time in forever because I think Bob will have a big game and the D will play OK against a Queens team that I am not convinced of.

Yeah, you can't be too cautious with RG3 so he should sit if he is even remotely showing signs of the concussion.

Seems like he is going through the full battery of tests and he sounded good yesterday after practice so if everyone says he is good to go then good for the Skins.

That said, he is going to have to be protected in the Viqueens game. Can't afford to do any option plays. However, you can't play this game scared or you will hurt yourself and not perform. He just has to play smart.

As far as beating Minnesota, I like our chances; however, Minnesota is 4-1 for a reason and they have probably been the biggest AND quietest surprise of the season thus far. Minnesota is going to have to earn their respect week in week out as there are still a lot of doubters out there (including myself). I like our chances and hopefully we pull out the victory.

Shanny is quoted saying that he will not adjust the gameplan to protect RG3. Whether thats true or not is unknown. What is true is that not changing the gameplan or not changing anything is going to cut RG3 career short.
