Skins resign Fletcher and sign Tanard Jackson

FINALLY! It was a must for Fletcher to resign. Aside from the fact that he is an obvious talent, he is the heart and soul of this team, a captain, and to not sign him would have been a P.R. nightmare for this regime. Love getting Fletcher back.

Also, like the signing of Tanard Jackson. He will be reunited with Raheem Morris and hopefully we will get good use out of him. The S position was a major concern with the loss of Landry. We were going into the season with Gomes and Doughty at those spots. While I like both those guys, Doughty is more of a special teamer and Gomes is still raw. Looks like our starting safeties will be Meriweather and Jackson. Meriweather should be more comfortable with the Skins as he is looking to ressurrect his career as he should be allowed to play more towards the line and be aggressives as opposed to having to do too much covering. Jackson is young and has been a starter since he came into the league so he should be an upgrade at the FS position.

I love that we get Jenkins and Hankerson back. The rebuilding is starting to take hold. Perhaps it is asking too much for the Redskins to take a giant leap into Super Bowl contention. But being exciting, relevant, and in the playoff conversation after Thanksgiving seems to be quite possible right now. Most of this will fall on RG3 and how quickly he can command the offense. We will need to focus on the O line in the draft but the team is looking more solid across the board than it has in years.

HTTR!!!

i don't know about the Fletcher signing. Hes only getting older and extremely older. More likely than not, At some point he is going to have a drop off. I'd have brought in a younger guy with some upside to learn the position and be ready for the skins push into the playoffs and into the top tier of teams. 2 years 11 mil and 5.25 mil guaranteed is too much.

I like RG3 but the skins will struggle this year. I'm not sold on Helu yet or their receivers(I know they upgraged but by how much?) O line has some questions. Most of all RG3 will be in the learning stages.

This year will be a true rebuilding year and with RG3 more likely than not, to succeed I think well see more positives toward the end of the year as things start sinking in as opposed to starting strong (like last year) and falling flat on their face.

My guess 6-10.

There is no question you needed to bring back Fletcher. He is the heart and soul of not just the defense but the entire team. To not bring him back would have been very detrimental to the team. I agree he is getting long in the tooth but he is the ageless wonder. He still performs at a very high level as recognized by his three straight Pro Bowl appearances and as a regular as one of the top tacklers in the league. I am perfectly fine with the signing and the contract.

Rebuilding started last year. It was a solid draft for us and we got rid of a lot of dead weight. Now we are taking a big gamble on RGIII. I like him and I believe he will pan out but if for some reason he doesn't, that decision will hurt our team hard.

Look, we are still in rebuild mode but assuming the RGIII decision works out, I like the direction of the team. We are certainly not a Super Bowl caliber team but we have a chance to be relevant late in the year. We were competitive in nearly every game last year and I expect to build off of that. Honestly, for most teams, the difference between winning and losing is very small in the NFL. I always say that each game comes down to a few plays and if your team is the one to make those plays it can be the difference.

It's hard to predict what will happen as we haven't seen what RGIII is capable of but one thing for certain is that it should be exciting to watch him.
