Redskins make final cuts

The noticeable cuts were:

Chase Daniel - didn't think he would beat out Brennan.

Jeremy Bridges - an O lineman that had several NFL starts. Didn't watch him enough to see what kind of impact he was making.

Anthony Alridge - he might as well have packed his bags when he fumbled the kickoff against the Jags.

D.J. Hackett - we made a push to sign him last season and I think the hope was to get him on the team since he knew Zorn and the offense but with the emergence of Marko Mitchell, Hackett became expendable. Interesing how quickly he went from sought after FA to out of work.

J.D. Skolnitzky - JMU grad. Cut but made the practice squad.

Tough for these guys on the final cut (and for all the guys cut on all the teams) as you are so close to making the roster and they have fought through the two a days and training camp grind only to come up short. At least there is the CFL and Arena league and next year.

The other interesting notes are that we kept Mike Williams. He lost a lot of weight and missed a lot of the preseason because of injury. Seemed slow a few times out there and would worry if he ever had to go in particularly against a speed rusher but I think his making the team was in part due to the progress he made over the last few months and the hope that he can continue to make progress. I like that we kept Mason and Mitchell. Those are good team guys that can make plays on special teams and might get into the rotation occasionally.

Less than a week until the Giants.

HAIL TO THE REDSKINS!!!

I'm a little surprised about Bridges, but I guess the coaches figured it's better to go with youth than an average veteran. I was also a little surprised that Colt ended up on IR...although I have no problem with only having two QBs on the roster. 99% of the time, the third QB wastes a roster spot. All in all, I think the team has improved where it needed to. We're better at WR and the O-line is younger. I'm very happy with how the preseason shook out.

Bring on the G-men!

HAIL 'SKINS!

Yeah, interesting only going with 2 QBs but it's rare when you need all three. Should something happen to either JC or Collins, I'm sure we will pick someone up off the scrap heap.

Bridges is also interesting since he was vying for the RT spot. It also seemed that he had versatility to play guard or tackle and again, he had quite a bit of NFL experience. Still, it seems that we were going with younger guys that may not be better than the veteran but showed more improvement and more potential.

I'm fine with the preseason and the roster and looking forward to Sunday.

I think most teams only have 2 QBs on the active roster for each game. I think you only have 47 active players each week. ARE can play QB in an emergency.

Frankly, the Redskins should have cut Malcolm Kelly and brought in someone who can play.

OK, OK, calm down. The last statement is a joke. We'll see if he can play.
